Painkiller: Fear Factor is a standalone modification to one of the most recognizable paranormal rail shooters of our time. It recycles absolutely everything, from the backstory to the arsenal. According to the developer, the gameplay resembles a hardcore survival horror: the atmosphere feels more oppressive and frightening, the enemies appear more often and appear literally in the face of the protagonist, who will face a catastrophic lack of ammo, and will count every shot. FPS is about humans and demons, and the demons have the advantage in numbers but not in guns.

The total assortment of weapons exceeds 20, but you can carry no more than 8 at a time. There are also secret prototypes that aren't easy to find. The standard roster of villains has been expanded with monsters from the prequels, which has refreshed the gameplay and added variety. In addition, the developer has worked on their detailing and quality of texture mapping in general - it turned out even better than the original. Sounds and special effects have been reworked, partially recreated from scratch, there is lighting from exploding grenades, and many other little things. "Fear Factor" is a very good quality indie project that uses only the main content of the original game, making unique adjustments, balance and upgrades to it.
