Sonic Mania Plus is a redesigned version of the arcade platformer Sonic Mania. Re-release adds two new characters to iconic two-dimensional arcade game. Players get to play as armadillo Maiti and yellow flying squirrel Ray. The first is able to destroy any obstacle with its strong armor, and the second attacks from the air and moves mainly due to its squirrel wings. In addition to adding new playable characters, the developers from PagodaWest Games freshened up all the existing locations of the game with new workarounds. Now every lover of the original game can go through the old-fashioned levels in a new way. Developers have also added new power-ups and traps. In addition, the game has a so-called Encore mode, which allows you to pass the game in cooperative mode, designed for 4 users. Local co-op in Sonic Mania Plus is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful solutions from the developers. The variety in the joint passage of the classic game zones contributes to the presence of 5 playable characters, including two new characters mentioned above, and 3 familiar protagonists: a blue hedgehog named Sonic, powerful and strong Knuckles, quick and agile Tales. Each character has his own unique skills. Sonic, for example, is the fastest runner; Knuckles is the hardest hitter; and Tails can fly with his tail. Otherwise, the updated version of the platformer about the adventures of Sonic and his friends is not much different from the original, released in 2017. In the re-release, the developers slightly improved the graphics, made the game locations more diverse, introduced two new protagonists and a local co-op mode.
