The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is an original adventure game for PC, PS4 and XONE, created by the team at Warsaw-based studio The Astronauts, led by Adrian Chmielarz, a prominent Polish industry.

Sources of inspiration for the creators of the production were fantastic works of fiction, entire horror films and scary stories from the beginning of the last century (e.g., the works of X. П. Lovecraft). The driving force behind this story is the eponymous mysterious disappearance of Ethan Carter, a young boy who was likely kidnapped by unknown criminals. The main character, Paul Prospero, a private detective with paranormal powers, tries to catch the villains.

In The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, following the trail of a child, he travels to Red Creek Gorge - a beautiful mountain valley in the Midwestern United States - where he finds the horribly murdered bodies of Ethan's captors. With the help of advanced detective tools and his own abilities, the protagonist must solve the mystery of a grim murder and learn the fate of a lost child.
